Podcasting News: Guba Launches Free Video Sharing Service

200MB limit. Can you say: Free videocast hosting?

The JaK Attack! #8

The St. Paddy's day edition we trash Chris, Fruitcast, and anyone else we can get our hands on! We've ditched the video. It was a lark, but at the end of the day we found that it was too distracting and was taking away from the show content.

The Newsvine Formula: Trash Commenters Problem Solved

I've written about this in comments here and there, but it might be of more use here in the Newsvine "community". Normally my column is reserved for podcast related news and seeds, but this truly belongs here.

Podcast Advertising Should Cost One Cent.

edit: Someone left a predictably Digg-like comment that this was advertising. I deleted it specifically because it was a typical trash comment, but he has a point. I've trimmed down this article to more accurately reflect what I am trying to say.

Podcast Networks: Innovative or Extinct?

A co-worker of mine just joined The Podcast Network. Before knowing he had joined, I penned a long message about how I felt that the podcast networks in general offered very little value to individual podcasters.

PodTech Comments from the PodTech Gallery » Paid Podcasts ???

"Watch their audience drop significantly but their profits will go up. They are tripping on dollars to pick up pennies. "

Digital Podcast News - Podcast Advertising Spend Estimated to Reach $80 Million this year

$80 Million?!? WTF?! I think not, I say.

The JaK Attack! #5 Up! With Webcast!

Just for kicks we decided to turn a web cam on ourselves while we recorded this week's show.

The JaK Attack! #4 Up!

Since I'm using my Newsvine column specifically for podcast-related stuff, it only makes sense to post my weekly podcast here. We put number 4 up late last week, the first 3 can be found here.

Apple charges for first iTunes 'podcast novel' - vnunet.com

Originally, I thought that Tee Morris' podcast book beat this one, but this sounds like a podcast only book. Like, no paper...interesting.

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Gervais charges for podcast show

The fundamental problem with this story is that this isn't a podcast. There's no RSS feed. The feed is what makes the show 'castable'. This is just direct download audio.

The Invasion of the Podsnatchers.

It's official - my quest for a better phrase than 'podcast listeners' has ended. I've decided on two phrases. One to refer to the collective podcast listenership and another to refer to a single podcast listener.

Podcasting News: Are Apple's $1.99 Video Downloads Doomed?

Another 'casting myth under fire. First it was the 'people will love the RSS feed/podcatcher system' and now it's the 'people would prefer to pay a buck or two for a video cast rather than watch commercials'.

Looking for Paudience Members.

We need a name for 'podcast listeners'. I write a ton of articles and blog entries (and hopefully a book soon!) on podcasting and I'm always stumbling over a good name to take the place of the plain old term 'listeners'.

NASA JPL Podcast

NARRATOR: It was a dark and stormy night - on Saturn. I'm Jane Platt and this is a podcast from JPL - NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

A Podcast in Any Other Form is Still (not) a Podcast.

It seems that every new word or phrase on the Internet has to go through some confabulations in its early days. New technologies and services require new words and while the originator has a certain intent, the general public may have a different idea.

Last Place » Blog Archive » What Makes a Good Podcast (and a Bad One)

Here's a decent entry by an actual podcaster that talks about (amongst other things) how long a podcast should be. I've read two articles this week that stated a podcast shouldn't be longer than 15 minutes.

eBay Podcasting Feed

I've created an RSS feed that pulls anything out of eBay with the words 'podcast', 'podcasting', or 'podcaster' in the title or description.
